Dr Alan Ferguson

General Dentist

Dr. Alan Ferguson is a General Dentist at North Shore Smile Dentistry - North in Vancouver

Dr. Alan Ferguson’s goal is to serve people in a way that makes a difference. He has a commitment to excellence in individual, health-centred dental care, and understands that preventive and restorative dental care can have a transformative impact on a person’s life.

Dr. Ferguson is a native of Glasgow and the West of Scotland. He attended the University of Glasgow, where he was awarded his degree in dentistry and dental surgery. Shortly after graduating, he moved to Canada and spent time practicing in Newfoundland and Labrador, and set up his own general practice in Labrador City.

Dr. Ferguson completed postgraduate training at the University of Western Ontario, where he achieved National Board Certification. He credits the experience gained from practicing in Labrador City without the benefit of any dental specialist in the area as an essential reason for his busy and successful practice today.

Dr. Ferguson has been established in North Vancouver for more than 20 years. He is a member of the Canadian Dental Association, the British Columbia Dental Association, and the British Dental Association. With experience in placing over 25,000 porcelain crowns, he brings a breadth of experience to restoring your smile. He works with Dr. Gillespie to provide a cohesive implant experience from start to finish.

You will find Dr. Fergunson in our North Vancouver dentist clinic from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm on Mondays to Thursdays.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Ferguson enjoys fishing, skiing, motorcycling, and football (soccer), and never misses a game of his favorite team, the Glasgow Rangers.
Dr Stephen Geoghegan

General Dentist

Dr. Stephen Geoghegan is a General Dentist practicing at North Shore Smile Dentistry - North in Vancouver. He believes in patient-centred dentistry. He treats each patient as an individual with their own specific needs and desires when considering their treatment goals. Dr. Geoghegan strives to explain possible options to help his patients realize the best treatment to optimize their dental health.

Dr. Geoghegan attended McGill University where he received the Governor General’s Medal for outstanding achievement in science. He went on to study at the McGill dental school and upon graduation was awarded the gold medal for highest class standing. After graduating, he did a year of advanced training at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal.

Dr. Geoghegan has lived and practiced on the North Shore for many years. He was delighted to join the North Shore Smile team and practice with experienced professionals like Dr Gillespie, Spooner and Ferguson. With their support, he is able to confidently provide a wider range of dental services.

With the practice of dentistry changing more rapidly in recent years, Dr. Geoghegan stays current by attending courses and conferences and participating in dental study groups. He enjoys doing aesthetic and restorative procedures. In his years of practice, he has placed a multitude of aesthetic crowns, veneers and implant crowns.

Away from the office, Dr. Geoghegan likes to hike, bike, ski and play hockey. He also should not forget to mention that he loves travelling with his wife, Fiona.
Dr Tony Gill

Oral Surgeon

Dr. Gill has been treating cosmetic and surgical dental cases since 1996, integrating his experience in orthodontics, restorative and cosmetic dentistry, and implantology to craft natural, lasting smiles. He is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan. He actively collaborates with dental offices across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, performing extractions, surgical procedures, implant placements, bone grafting, and restorative treatments. He also plays a vital role in mentoring fellow dentists, sharing his knowledge of implant and restoration techniques. While he occasionally lectures, Dr. Gill’s true passion lies in hands-on clinical work.

With experience in implant dentistry dating back to 1993, Dr. Gill has pursued rigorous continuing education, including numerous lectures and hands-on courses in implants, surgery, and bone grafting. His training has taken him internationally, including a significant study period with Dr. Paul Weigl at the University of Frankfurt School of Dentistry in Germany. He holds fellowships with the American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the Academy of Dentistry International, reflecting his commitment to excellence and leadership since the early 2000s.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Gill serves as an advisor, clinical tester, and consultant for select dental laboratories and dental materials companies. He is also a technical advisor for dental office software. His leadership extends to professional associations, having served as president of the BC Dental Association, the Vancouver & District Dental Society, and various local business groups. He played a key role in founding the South Vancouver Policing Centre and currently contributes to organizing Canada’s largest dental convention held in Vancouver. Additionally, Dr. Gill represents British Columbia dentists on multiple national committees.

Outside the dental world, Dr. Gill is a wine enthusiast with a passion for photography, travel, and exploring diverse cuisines and cultures, preferably where there’s warm weather and a beach nearby!
Dr Geoffrey Gillespie

General Dentist

Dr. Gillespie has been practising in Dundarave in West Vancouver for over 26 years. He is a graduate with Distinction from the University of Saskatchewan. Earning his DMD degree in 1999 and was awarded honours in Oral Surgery and Restorative dentistry. In Chicago in 2005, he was awarded Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists for Dental Implant Surgeries and Bone Grafting.

A graduate of the Misch International Implant Institute, Dr. Gillespie has developed his career with continuous investment in his education and skills, joining some of the world’s best educators in seminars and hands-on training. He has placed over 1600 dental implants and restored over 2000 implant prostheses. Dr. Gillespie was featured in Fashion Magazine in the last several years as “Who To See In Cosmetic Dentistry” and has completed over 15,000 porcelain crowns and veneers.

As our managing partner dentist in Dundarave, West Vancouver, Dr. Gillespie’s focus is on Invisalign, cosmetic, and implant dentistry and he enjoys providing patient care from the smallest fillings and whitening to full mouth reconstruction and advanced crown and implant cases. Invisible braces, or Invisalign, have become popular with his patients wanting a straighter smile without conventional braces and is an Invisalign® Pearl provider.

Dr. Gillespie started his 40 Smiles campaign in 2016 on his 40th birthday and has since completed over $200,000 in pro-bono dentistry for those in need from the lower mainland. He volunteered his time with the BC Dental Association as on the Future of Dentistry Taskforce, Marketing and Communications Board, and was the Chair of the Public Education and Communication Committee for several years leading to an award of Merit from the BC Dental Association.
